The theme of this collection is

“Coolness is a measure of ease.”

They were not words I came up with while intending to talk about clothes.

 

As I thought about the “cool adults” I had met throughout my life, these words came to me naturally.

I had found it mysterious since I was young.

The truly cool never panic.

 

No matter what happened, they never became more flustered than necessary.

They never rushed others.

They never tried to make themselves appear more important.

 

Just having them there made everyone around them feel a little more at ease.

They carried that kind of atmosphere.

They were also rich in knowledge.

But there is something that has left an even stronger impression on me.

 

Even when there is something they do not know, they are completely unshaken.

“I don’t know that one.”

They say that with a smile.

And in the very next moment, they begin thinking with what they know as a clue.

That is why the conversation never stops.

It is not because I know everything, but because I never stop thinking.

I have never felt ashamed of not knowing something.

There is an unlimited amount I do not know.

But that has never caused me any trouble.

It is enough to start by thinking from what you know.

 

I believe experience is not about gathering knowledge, but about being able to continue thinking with what you know.

Therefore, what frightens me more is ceasing to think.

Making clothes is exactly the same.

It is also important to pursue new materials and new techniques.

But more important than that is questioning, reconsidering, and trying again the experience I have accumulated.

 

The slope of the shoulder. The amount of room across the body.

The way a sleeve settles. The line the fabric draws as you walk.

 

Each one is truly a very small difference.

But I believe that clothing capable of changing a person’s aura can only be made by continuing to consider those small differences.

With this collection, we did not intend to express “roominess” through oversized silhouettes.

They even make the person wearing them appear a little more composed.

They look as though the wearer has relaxed their shoulders.

We made these clothes hoping to imbue them with that kind of atmosphere.

Coolness is not born from adding something.

Knowing what should be removed, and what should remain.

And being able to remain yourself in every situation.

 

People and clothes.

It is surely the same.

 

At this weekend’s trunk show, we hope to talk with you about the ideas woven into each individual piece.
