The story of accidentally putting it in the dryer.
Good evening. I'm Matsushima from cantáte.
the other day, I did laundry while still half-asleep.
When I woke up and opened the washing machine,
there was a cantáte T-shirt inside.
And on top of that,
it was completely dry.
Honestly,I thought, “Oh, I've done it now.”
That's right.
I accidentally put it in the dryer.
But
and surprisingly, nothing much had happened.
The shape had not collapsed,
The size had barely changed either.
and the neck was perfectly normal.
If anything, it had tightened slightly,
It was just right.

The personal item in front was accidentally put in the dryer.
I think it has been washed about 20 times.
The back one is new.

this one has the new item in front and the well-worn one in back.
Looking at the impressions left by the flat-felled seams,
I think you can somehow tell that it has been well worn.
I was also a “buyer” before I started making cantáte.
therefore,
I've made plenty of mistakes.
It shrinks when washed.
The neck stretches.
The white shows through.
it gets misshapen after a few wears.
Probably,
No one wants to fail.
But
I think some things can only be born from the experience of failure.

even the print at the neck hasn't peeled.
cantáte's washable products,
basically, every item is garment-washed.
In other words,
It barely shrinks.
the care label says not to use a dryer.
But in reality,
Most products are delivered after going through the dryer.
That way,
Because you won't have to worry if something like this happens.

The one on the right is new, and the one on the left is my personal item.
And,
There is a conversation that always felt strange to me.
Customer: “Will this shrink?”
Salesperson: “It will shrink by 2–3 cm, so you should go up one size.”
I really couldn't understand the meaning of this conversation.
because,
Even though you chose it because you like that silhouette,
Would washing it after sizing up make it the same size?
That could never happen.

Also,
I really hate men's armpit hair.
If anything,
I wish people who come to restaurants in tank tops would go extinct.
therefore,
So, a T-shirt made by someone who hates armpit hair that much
make it difficult for your armpits to show even when you raise your arms.
as well as the sleeve length,
The angle, too,
We pay considerable attention to that.
your armpits don't show.
That's all it is, but
I think T-shirts are the accumulation of these small points of discomfort.
the neckline is the same.
Because it is designed at an angle that resists stretching, but they are less likely to look sloppy even after continued wear.
the specifications are not flashy,
Precisely because these are clothes you wear every day,
We take proper care of those details.

Size 50, new
Body length 74 cm / Shoulder width 51.5 cm / Chest width 57 cm / Sleeve length 23 cm / Top width 22 cm
Size 50, personal item
Body length 73 cm / Shoulder width 51 cm / Chest width 57 cm / Sleeve length 22.5 cm / Top width 22.3 cm
As a result, the body length changed by −1 cm, the shoulder width by −0.5 cm, the sleeve length by −0.5 cm, and the top width by +0.3 cm.
These figures pose no problem at all.
At dimensions like these, any minor difference can easily be corrected with an iron, and more importantly, the fact that the width at the top has barely changed is proof that the neckline has not stretched even after 20 washes.
※Results vary depending on the type of washing machine or dryer and the conditions, so please consider these figures for reference only.
I think about it from time to time.
If cantáte didn't exist,
I sometimes wonder what it is I'm buying.
Of course,
there are many good clothes in the world.
But
Clothes that resolve the wearer's sense of discomfort down to the smallest details—
but there are surprisingly few.
Quality is important, of course, I think the consideration that goes into them is just as important.

rather than clothes you have to take special care when wearing,
Clothes that you find yourself reaching for every day
In the end, they are the ones that last.
I want to make clothes like that.
