Sharpness and roundness.

New 26AW pieces have begun arriving at cliché little by little.
The hot days continue every day, yet, strangely, more customers have been saying, “I’m starting to think about fall and winter clothes.” Honestly, it may seem a little early to look at fall and winter clothing in this heat. But that is one of the mysterious things about every season, isn't it?
Even though it is hot, you start wanting fall and winter clothes.
I understand that feeling very well myself.
As I was looking at the items that arrived this time, I found myself thinking about something.
Clothing is not necessarily at its best the moment you buy it.
Wear it, wash it, and wear it again.
As time passes in that way, a character that was not there at first gradually begins to emerge.
I think that is also part of what makes clothing so enjoyable.
Among the 26AW arrivals this time, the piece I felt would be especially enjoyable to watch change was this printed T-shirt.
Based on that “proper T-shirt,” we used cracked prints on the front and back. At times it looks like the logo of a hip-hop group; at others, it evokes some kind of dreamland.
As it is worn, the print gradually changes in character, developing into a piece that is uniquely yours.

“One is sharpness, and the other is roundness.”
That was the impression I had when I first saw this print.
When new, the cracked print and its color combination give it a somewhat sharp atmosphere.
But the more this print is worn, the more its character gradually changes and settles into the wearer's own atmosphere.
As the edges soften and it gradually takes on a rounded quality.
That is why this T-shirt has no final point called completion.
After years of wear, it should show a character completely different from what you see now.
The sharpness you feel now will gradually become roundness over time.
I think that kind of change is also part of the enjoyment of this piece.

When I first saw this print, the first thing I felt was “sharpness.”
There is no outline or ornamentation around the lettering. Only the words are placed large at the front and back, and that decisiveness comes through directly.
A presence created precisely because nothing unnecessary has been added.
I felt that atmosphere as “sharpness.”
“The other is roundness.”
This one is a little different from the previous version.
Together with the lettering and the color of the body, it created a soft atmosphere, as though the tension had been gently released.
I found myself wanting to describe that impression as “roundness.”
Of course, I don't think the impression I have now will necessarily remain unchanged.
Just as clothing changes in character over time, the impression this print gives should gradually change as well.
The sharpness felt when it was new gradually softens and takes on a rounded quality as it is worn.
And within that rounded quality, a presence emerges that was not there when it was new.
When I imagine that kind of change, I want to see for myself what it will look like after being worn in.
Before you know it, you may find yourself reaching for one piece, then another.
To everyone who has purchased one so far, and to everyone still considering one.
I hope you will wear it often and enjoy watching it develop into a character all its own.
